The Family Of Inspector Sunday Peter's Have Appealed To The Inspector - General

The family member of Inspector Sunday Peters a police officer with the rapid response squad at Alausa - Ikeja, Lagos have requested the Inspector General of Police to carry out a thorough investigation into the death of their brother. The family members are not satisfied with the reasons adjured for the death of their brother, hence their demand for the real cause of their brother's death.A sister to the police officer recount how she was called and told the brother was sick only to hear from the wife of the brother that the brother was dead after an hour to when she was first called. In similar development, the junior brother to the deceased officer also said he received a call between the hours of 7am and 8am that he had to come to Ikotun police station, upon knowing the rationale for requesting his presence at the police station is when he was told that his brother is dead. On getting to the police station he was told the brother has been taken to mortuary at Maryland hospital in Yaba.He was surprised that how can someone who just died be taken to the mortuary without allowing any member of the family to see the corpse. He was also not allowed to see the dead body.In trying to find out from the police the cause of the death, the brother said that on that fateful day, his brother - inspector Sunday Peters was on a patrol with the squad around Falomo- Ikoyi. According to the Police, they said Inspector Sunday Peters told them he was not feeling too well that he had to go to the hospital, that he even walk down to the hospital himself. They claimed that the police clinic/hospital at Falomo demanded for 100k naira before treatment can commenced. In trying to sort out how the money can be made available, was when the Doctor told them that Inspector Sunday Peters was dead.Furthermore, the eldest sister to Inspector Sunday Peters, Mrs, Gloria said on the very day, his brother was not sick, but was healthy enough to go to work only to be shocked that his brother is dead. They whole scenario pertaining to the death of their brother is confusing and difficult for them to believe, hence they have requested the Inspector General of police to step in and help them in knowing the full details of what caused their brother's death. Pertinent questions begging for answers are: Why will the Police hospital /clinic demand for 100k naira as deposit from a police officer in uniform before treatment can be commenced on him. Why should the dead body of the Officer be embalmed without allowing the family members to see the dead body. That so far, why hasn't any member of the Rapid response squad and the police pay visit to the family to console with them and explain to them the true cause of death. The family want the Inspector General of Police to use his good office to provide them justice. Kingsley Efionayi @vonnews
