Cruelty to children: Adamawa Woman,23 set fire to step kids’ hands over a plate of RiceAdamawa Police Command has arrested Rachel Geoffrey who is 23 years old and a resident of Federal Housing estate, Girei local government area for setting fire to the hands of her stepkids, Genesis Geoffrey,7 years and Idadai Geoffrey,3 years.SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the command public relations officer confirmed the incident and told our correspondent in a statement that Rachel on 14/5/2024 intentionally inflicted severe physical injuries on her 7 and 3-year-old stepchildren.He said the Victims (Genesis, Ijadai) faced several calculated acts of cruelty and Human rights violations from their stepmother after the separation of their Mother from their Father.According to him, innocent Genesis Ijadai faced the wrath of their wild stepmother over the plate of Rice she cooked and kept for her Husband.The kids because of hungry ate their father’s food and that angered her, she then tied their hands with a handkerchief making them powerless, and set fire to their hands resulting in the severe injuries they sustained.The Commissioner of Police CP Dankombo Morris, Psc (+), expressed worries as he advised members of the public particularly Parents to live up to expectations by providing basic needs of their wards and vowed diligent prosecution of the suspect.
