Police Beef Up Security Along Lagos Ibadan Expressway Over Kidnapping, Robbery

Following the recent resurgence of kidnapping and robbery along the Lagos-IbadanExpressway, the Oyo State Police Command has beefed up security on the road withthe deployment of more men.Olu-Ode of Oyo State, popularly known as Ege, confirmed the development, saying:“We have met with the management team of the Oyo State Police Command on howto bring an end to the reported cases of kidnapping and other vices in the state.“With the collaborative efforts of the police, the criminals will be smoked out of their various hideout in the state.MEANWHILE, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) hascondemed the kidnap of 13 persons from Piko, a remote community in Bwari AreaCouncil in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by suspected gunmen.HURIWA, therefore, urged President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of securityemergency in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).It said that a dedicated team of well-trained and well-equipped joint armed securityforces should be deployed to the six area councils of the FCT to quell the criminalitythreatening the peace, stability and security of the nation’s capital.https://guardian.ng/news/police-beef-up-security-along-lagos-ibadan-expressway-over-kidnapping-robbery
