More Than 115 Inmates Break Free As Torrential Rain Wreaks Havoc On Suleja Priso

A total of 119 inmates from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Suleja, Niger state, managed to escape due to heavy rainfall that caused significant damage to the facility and its perimeter fence. The spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory FCT Command of the Nigeria Correctional Service NCoS, Adamu Duza, confirmed this in a statement. Duza also mentioned that the recapturing process has already begun, with 10 inmates being apprehended so far. He acknowledged that many of the correctional facilities are old and weak, and efforts are being made to replace them with modern ones. Duza assured the public that the situation is under control and urged them to carry on with their daily activities without fear. He also requested the public to report any suspicious movements of the escaped inmates to the nearest security agency.
