Bobrisky: When The Sheriffs Are Puritans By Ultim

Brooding over the Bobrisky debacle, I thought of a piece I would caption, 'When the Sheriffs are Puritans'.I can imagine Pastor Ola the EFCC boss's countenance while approving a clampdown on the cross-dresser's crime(s). A time for conspicuous resentment against this iniquity. 'Olorun mu!'The puritanic rendition of the Naira offence in relation to the personal life of the culprit must have flipped open the front page of the anti-graft agency's book of sins, in what could be tagged 'institutional hate!' The guilty plea negation of the corpus delicti and submission to the Black Maria with a manifest refusal to exercise a right of appeal to, at least, commutate the sentence to a non-custodial term or payment of fine, are likely signs of a tacit understanding that saw excision of the money laundering charges as a prominent bargaining chip. An offence that was visited with a mere six-month jail term should be classified as a misdemeanour and as such, in Prof Odinkalu's words, did not *ordinarily* deserve the time and resources of the ace anti-graft agency whatever be the lesson or warning that were being served on the gold platter provided by the celebrity transvestite. But then, let us not cry more than the bereaved!Dear Ikoyi Prison inmates and the officials of Bobrisky's six-month abode, tell Bobrisky that it could even be riskier after his jail term. Let him know that institutionalised bias propels unimaginable hate crime against sexual minority groups. Tell him that the likelihood of attacks that could snuff the life out of him is not ruled out after his jail term. Advise him that it is time to accept the African God or leave for the West to worship their Jahova.
