Nigerian Military Denies Carrying Out Any Reprisal Attack In Okuoma, Delta

The Nigerian military has rejected accusations of launching a reprisal attack on the Okuoma community in Delta state, following the killing of 16 of its officers by youths of the community over the weekend.General Christopher Musa, the defense chief, responded to Reuters, denying any military-initiated attack on the community. "No reprisals by the army. We are searching for the murderers and their weapon cache," Musa stated.There have been claims from some Nigerians that individuals in army uniform raided and set fire to homes in the community on Sunday, March 17, a few days after the officers were killed.The 16 soldiers had been dispatched to the community to mediate a land dispute.
