Man Murders 90-year-old Grandma, Stealing N16,750 In Akwa Ibom (photo)

A man, identified as Nkereuwem Umoren Ekpo, has been apprehended by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for a disturbing crime. He is accused of brutally attacking his 90-year-old grandmother, Martina Udoudo Akpan, resulting in her untimely death. This tragic incident occurred on February 25, 2024, around 1400Hrs in Adiasim Ikot Udo village, Essien Udim Local Government Area.According to the State Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara, the suspect allegedly used a machete to fatally wound his grandmother while they were working together in the farm, specifically while cutting cassava stems. After this horrifying act, Ekpo reportedly stole N16,750 from the deceased's possession and fled the scene.CP Ayilara revealed this information during the parade of the suspect, Nkereuwem Umoren Ekpo, along with 51 others who were arrested for various offenses within the state.
